Hi-Point Pistols: The Ultimate Test MAN VS HI POINT
Hi-Point Pistols: The Ultimate Test MAN VS HI POINT
The third and final chapter. The Hi-point came out on time despite our best efforts to destroy. If you cannot afford any other gun, you'd better have a hi-point. We will now send both the guns back to hi point to test out their warranty.

Hi-Point Pistols: "I Wish I Could Hate This" by Nutnfancy
Hi-Point Pistols: "I Wish I Could Hate This" by Nutnfancy
This is a gun I'd love to hate. Seriously. It has some issues to be sure. Its blowback operation makes the gun ungainly, heavy, and bulky. The Hi-Point C9 9mm weighs 32 oz and other calibers weigh even more. And for that weight you only get a single stack 8 round magazine. That's some real sucky firepower fort that weight and size. Yikes dude, yikes. Add in a horrible trigger, slick grips, a thick slide, a tedious fieldstrip, and "kerchunking" recoil impulse and you have the makings for a disaster of a gun. And like many things in life you will have to dig deeper than an outside look to find the beauty of the Hi-Points. Only through a determined testing regime did I end up respecting the Hi-Point pistols. Initially some failures ensued (shown) and along with the horrific ergonomics, started my personal downward spiral of hate for the design. And yet I perservered in the test...there had to be some redemption for this pistol. There was. Subsequent outings in the Hi-Point C9 (after an easy parts replacement) made reliability 100% with all ammo types tried. And then there was the accuracy. The non-tilting barrel hit steel and paper with regularity and consistency. Other Hi-Point pistols were also shot for this review and they too were very accurate. The high viz adjustable sights help and allow for POI corrections. With these guns running 100%, the value factor on the Hi-Point pistols is smokin'. And if they're not, take advantage of the lifetime warranty given by Beemiller ...

Hi-Point 45 Review
Hi-Point 45 Review
-Works well -Accurate design -Too thick for comfortable concealment. -Only manly men can rack the slide. -Not very many accessories -Comes with free ghost ring sights -Barrel long enough to expand win. jhp's -Magazine protrudes, displeasing to the eye. - Would be great for pistol whipping Cheap enough to not care about the cons.

HIGH POINT

crayfishthumbHigh Point is only a short boat ride away from Martin's Haven.

Photo: Rich Trevithick

Distance from Martin's Haven: 0.5nM Slack water: any state of the tide, but currents can be strong away from the reef itself. High Point is only a short boat ride away from Martin's Haven. Depths bottom out at around 20m, which makes High Point a good dive for most levels of experience. Divers can be dropped in close to the rocks and then descend to the top of the reef at 3-4m. Heading north, takes you out and down the reef. It is worth following the rock/sand divide at the bottom of the reef, as it is here that there is a chance of spotting octopuses. Move slowly up the reef and explore the holes, where there is a good chance of finding crustaceans, some of which grow to a large size. High Point is a popular site for shore-based fishing. As a result, quantities of discarded fishing tackle can be found. The Nature Reserve wardens, who often patrol the area, welcome diving groups that collect fishing line.
