If you want to contact me, try : twitter.com Fritz Lehmann (1904-1956) had the bad luck to die just before the stereo age. Is this the reason he is forgotten by the general public? Anyway, here is a strong and brilliantly played Hebrides Overture from Felix Mendelssohn. I de-clicked and eq-ed the record myself. For more classical mp3's, take a look at by blog with the Dutch Radio 4. It's in Dutch, but at the bottom of the pages are my transfers of pre 1958 Lp's. Please write on the blog what you think of the recordings! Enjoy! 65919 views |
Put some pictures from my holiday on the Outer Hebrides together tonight with some music so I can show people what I saw. Photos were taken with point and shoot camera, not edited and are shown in order they were taken over two weeks. Started off at Barra, through the Uists and Benbecula and up to Harris and the Isle of Lewis. Scotland is truly beautiful, whatever the weather and we had all of the beaches to ourselves and not a midge in sight :) Visited the Callinish stones several times, hence the different pictures. Enjoy! 812 views |

And this is a tradition established for good reason, because such dives are the underwater equivalent of visiting remote locations on land that are renowned for their beautiful landscapes.
Rocky sea beds in areas exposed to strong currents, pounding seas and heavy weather are often swept by clearer and bluer water than inshore sites; this boosts visibility as well as the sense of lightness and clarity. Add to this the spectacular kelp beds, convoluted rocky reefs and walls covered in masses of colourful anemones. Such underwater scenes are well worth all the hassle involved in getting to them.
Some of the most spectacular scenic dives in the UK are found off the Scottish coast – around the Inner and Outer Hebridean islands, in particular. But some of the lesser-known islets contain some of the jewels among scenic dives. Oigh Sgeir (south and just west of Canna) has caves, gullies, walls and more (as well as 20-plus basking sharks when I visited it). And submerged pinnacles such as Bo Faskadale (north of Ardnamurchan Point) can be stunning in good visibility – and I’ve seen it once in 25m-plus conditions, though 5–6m viz is more usually the norm.
