On 9th April 1942, en route to the Maldives, the 12,700 tonne HMS Hermes was attacked and sunk by the Japanese 8km off the East Coast of Sri Lanka. Launched in 1919 as the world’s first purpose-built aircraft carrier. It sank off the town of Batticaloa during the Second World War, when it was attacked by 70 Japanese bombers and hit 40 times.
From 45-48m the intact wreck, an official war grave, lies beneath the tropical Sri Lankan seas.
Places are limited to just 12 divers so early booking is advisable!
Price includes all transfers and 8 nights accommodation based on twin/double share with breakfast, 5 days diving, 2 dives per day with use of tanks (air) and weights and return economy class flights from Heathrow on Sri Lankan airlines with 30kgs baggage allowance!
During the trip expect to make 8 dives on the HMS Hermes and 2 reef dives.
