Underwater photographer, marine biologist and DIVE contributing editor Alex Mustard says his camera is as essential to his dive kit as his fins.
Alex, from Hampshire, began underwater photography in his early teens. Alex visited the mangroves in Raja Ampat – which, he admits, is not a classic diving environment, as it’s only 2–3m deep. He says: ‘The quest for photos draws you into underwater experiences that you wouldn’t do otherwise. Every underwater environment is fascinating in its own right.’
