Atomic Sub-Frame Mask
More about Atomic
Average Rating: 5 out of 5
No. of Reviews: 1
RRP: £120

Description: The strongest and most indestructible two-window mask ever. So durable- we are offering a Lifetime warranty against frame breakage. This strength is the result of an internal frame (we call the subframe) molded directly beneath the surface of the silicone rubber skirt (Pat. Pend). This subframe provides incredible strength and rigidity as well as eliminating the bulky external plastic frame in other masks. A stainless steel lens retainer locks the lenses in place and provides added strength to the nose bridge area of the mask. A wide field of view and great fit completes the combination of function- style and durability.

'I CAN SEE CLEARLY NOW'
Strengths:
Atomic do for masks what they've already done for regulators. Comfortably sleek, visually sexy, and as tough as a Russian winter.
Weaknesses:
The attention to detail that has gone into the Sub-Frame comes at a premium. Some might argue the low volume is liable to make you claustrophic at depth, in which case go for the clear plastic version.
Overall:
The Sub-Frame was THE stand-out mask for me in a dive shop dizzyingly overloaded with mask choices. Personally I found the fit extremely comfortable, and the glass - corrective lenses are available - comes with an "UltraClear" finish.

30+ dives later and the mask has been a pleasure to use. Even at 40 metres there is no squeeze to speak of, just good all-round vision.

This mask is the one piece of kit in my arsenal I'm considering buying another of, purely in case Atomic decided to stop making it for some reason.

Sure, it's a bit pricey - but in the scheme of things, is £20-30 extra unreasonable for something so fundamental? Try it and decide for yourself, but I know where my money is.
