'RELIABLE, RELIABLE, RELIABLE'
Strengths:
This computer is probably one the easiest computers to use out there to date with options to adjust it to individual diver's requirements. Easy to set your nitrox percentage, plan your dive or download your log onto your PC.
Weaknesses:
Changing the battery can be a bit tricky and care should be taken when re-assembling the battery housing, as the O-ring is likely to slip. If you are not too confident, just go to your local dive shop. Very often you just buy the battery and O-ring and they do it all for free!
Overall:
A very good purchase for all those that want a nitrox compatible computer at a reasonable cost. The three buttons are easy to use, even with thick gloves or cold hands.

The instruction booklet is, compared to those of some competitors, jargon-free and easy to follow. After a few 'dry runs' you will probably know all the computer's functions by heart.

'FANTASTIC RELIABLE COMPUTER'
Strengths:
This Suunto Vyper does everything you want and need in a dive computer! It is very robust and durable. There is a user changeable battery. The Vyper is incredible easy to use! It does not need anything doing to it whilst on the dive. It is nitrox and air compatable. Easy to read and has a very good backlight for murky/dark dives! It is also copatible with a PC interface.
Weaknesses:
None.
Overall:
The Suunto Vyper is a good reliable computer that does everything you need! It is very good value for money and is great for entry level right the way throught to professional levels!

'ESSENTIAL DIVE INFO. RIGHT INFRONT OF YOU DAY OR NIGHT'
Strengths:
Provides all the information you need right there in front of you.

Suitable for beginers and experienced divers.

Worried as a beginner that you might ascend too quick? - Keep an eye on your Vyper and it will tell you. Even if you forget to look it will still tell you. I have never failed to miss one of its audible alarms.

The user replaceable battery is a great feature. Usually they are not too difficult to get hold of and many places stock them, but proper planning still helps - think ahead and buy one before you really need it

All the Suunto products all feel and operate much the same so moving to a another model later or as a backup should not be a problem.
Weaknesses:
Limited to only one gas mix, but if you know that you are not likely to go onto gas switching then it's not a weakness.

(If gas switching is a necessity try on of the other Suunto products, I'm sure you will find what you are looking for.)

The main weakness though is the human operator, through either:-
Not knowing how to use it properly, ignoring it or not setting it up as they intended.
Overall:
A well thought out piece of diving equipment. All the essential dive information you need is right there. If you want to look at it again when your back at the surface filling in yourlog book and can not remember the depth and time - press a couple of buttons and its there. It's even downloadable to the PC so you can check times, depths, tissue codes as much as you want back home.

Make sure you read the instructions and know how to use it to get the best from it

I have mine in a console right next to the pressure gauge so everything reallyis available in one look

'ALL THE INFORMATION YOU WANT AT THE TOUCH OF A BUTTON'
Strengths:
Suunto computers are incrediably easy to use – nothing is overcomplicated, even when under the influence of narcosis! This computer offers me everything I need for the type of diving I do. It has a large enough face to read in low viz UK diving. The interface display is also well-designed. In an instant, and without any confusion, you can read max depth, the depth you are, time before you go into deco at that depth, the water temperature and dive time. I recently started to dive with nitrox and found the Vyper really easy to switch over to different nitrox mixes. The only feature I'm not familiar with is the PC software, because it doesn't work with a Mac.
Weaknesses:
No weaknesses found in the last few years of use. The battery is still pretty full. Although it could be seen as a little pricey. And how about download software that works with a Mac?
Overall:
A top performer and reliable diving buddy. Simply my favourite bit of kit for the last two years.
