Canon IXUS 980 IS and WP-DC27 housing
![]() |
The 14.7-megapixel chip produces quality images from a small package, and the features provide versatility in both auto and manual modes – although the latter is restricted to either maximum or minimum aperture. However, for land use, it will please both the point-and-shoot operator as well as those wanting more control.
The underwater housing is a joy to set up and use and, with adaptors such as those from Inon, will accept accessory lenses and filters to make it very versatile. However, for those wanting maximum control, there is no physical access to the camera’s rotating dial, which is necessary in order to take manual exposures. It can be accessed via the housing by operating two controls at once, which is not ergonomically ideal but is better than nothing. But I suspect that the majority of people using this combo will more than happy with its point-and-shoot capability.
