Various roles as a camera assistant topside and underwater eventually paid off and she shot her first advertising job in 1997. She has since worked on high-profile campaigns for companies such as Olay, Sony, Nike and Umbro.

Salary range: Zero to undisclosed sums for multimillion-pound advertising campaigns.

Skills/qualifications needed:
What the job involves: Much of my work is done in the pool at Pinewood Studios. I have a team of freelancers who work for me, as well as models. Shooting is only ten per cent of what we do. I spend a lot of time retouching images, meeting people and conference calling. It’s long hours and challenging.

Best part of the job: Creativity and the satisfaction of meeting the challenge.

Worst part of the job: Being cold. A day’s shoot can take up to eight hours.

Advice to jobseekers: It’s a unique job and you have to really want to do it. Be persistent. It doesn’t come easily.
