The annual Our World Underwater and DEEP Indonesia photo competition is launched with US$80,000 worth of prizes.

The top prize for the series, organized and founded by DivePhotoGuide.com and Wetpixel, is US$1,000 cash. Other prizes including trips to the top resorts and liveaboards, as well as underwater photography equipment. There are more than 15 categories.

The competition is designed for photographers of all levels, with categories ranging from novice to professional and even commercial photography. As in the past, Our World Underwater contest focuses on technical categories, while DEEP Indonesia offers themed entry categories.

The organizers, Matt Weiss and Eric Cheng, said: 'We are excited to announce the 8^th-annual Our World Underwater and DEEP Indonesia competitions. Each year, we continue to be surprised by the quality and creativity of the photographs submitted, and we have no doubt that this year will exceed our expectations once again. It is our honor to showcase and award these talented photographers.'

The winners of the Our World Underwater contest will be announced and exhibited at the Our World Underwater Exhibition on 15 February. Winners of the DEEP Indonesia contest will be announced on 7 March, 2013 and displayed at the show.

Fifteen per cent of entry proceeds will be donated to marine conservation efforts.
