Diver missing off Portland

A search for a missing diver near Portland, Dorset, has been called off.

The 64-year-old man was diving on the wreck of HMS Warrior II, 16 nautical miles south-east of Portland Bill, from the charter boat Skin Deeper.

The boat alerted the coastguard when the diver failed to surface from the 55m-deep wreck. A search was launched involving two lifeboats from Weymouth, two other RNLI lifeboats, a coastguard helicopter, a plane and other vessels but the diver could not be found.
