Norman Lancefield, a member of Barry Sub-Aqua Club in Wales, recently celebrated his 90th birthday with a weekend of diving.
Norman Lancefield dives at Babbacombe
Norman, who has a good claim to be BSAC's oldest active member, clocked up an hour underwater with two dives to eight metres off Babbacombe beach. He learned to dive in 1978 and has been an active diver since, visiting the Farne Islands with his club last year and diving in Scapa Flow when he was 80 years old.
Russ Phillips, Barry SAC Training Officer and one of Norman's regular dive buddies, said: 'We all had a great day celebrating Norman's 90th and it was a pleasure to join him on one of his birthday dives. He is a real inspiration to our club and proof that you are never too old to get out there and get active!'
Members of the club joined Norman and his family for drinks, dinner and birthday cake after diving and presented Norman with a barometer and a bottle of whiskey.
