A diver has been found safe and well after drifting for more than three hours off the Pembrokeshire coast.
Christopher James, 49, of Merthyr Tydfil was diving with Valley Divers at the Garland Stone near Skomer Island. After the dive, as his buddy was picked up by the dive boat, James drifted away.
The dive boat raised the alarm and Milford Haven Coastguard coordinated a search involving four lifeboats and a helicopter. The coastguard also alerted boats in the area and it was a merchant ship, Galway Fisher, that spotted James. He was winched to safety by an RAF rescue helicopter.
Bob Peel, watch manager at Milford Haven Coastguard, said: 'We would like to thank all the private vessels that responded to the mayday relay broadcast. The dive boat was fully equipped and called the coastguard as soon as they realised they needed assistance.
'This incident highlights how far a person can be carried by tidal currents in a very short space of time.'
James diver was wearing a wetsuit, a BCD and had inflated his orange surface marker buoy.
