A workshop on decompression illness (DCI) aimed at all divers is being held on 11 September by the Diving Diseases Research Centre (DDRC) and the Sub Aqua Association.
Statistics show that around 50 per cent of DCI sufferers have dived within the limits set by their tables or computer - so the workshop will examine how you can protect yourself against the bends.
Three divers will speak about their experiences of DCI and then their doctors will discuss each case. The workshop will also look at PFOs (holes in the heart) and the issue of denial in DCI sufferers. There will also be an opportunity to speak to DCI experts.
The DCI Workshop for Divers is one of several events being held to mark the 30th anniversary of the DDRC. For more information, see the DDRC's website: www.ddrc.org
