Definitive Underwater Guide to Papua New Guinea

From Mahé to Aldabra: The Underwater World of Seychelles

Moresby to Manus: The Definitive Underwater Guide to Papua New Guinea
From Mahé to Aldabra: The Underwater World of Seychelles
www.sharkbayfilms.com • £18 plus p&p from www.fourthelement.com

John Boyle has amassed hours of video footage from many of diving's great destinations, including Papua New Guinea and the Seychelles. Now he has organised it all into two user-friendly DVD guides. Both discs open onto a map format, and you simply click on the relevant spot for a short film on the island or region.

John Boyle's video work is reliably good, and he knows what divers are looking for in a holiday. The segments combine reportage with underwater and topside footage to give a flavour of the regions, and local musicians provide the soundtrack.

The Seychelles DVD is packed with bonus extras that add up to an overall runtime of 150 minutes - you see the islands from every possible angle, thanks to some dramatic footage taken from helicopters. The overall quality of the PNG disc is even higher, as the Shark Bay videographers show off the incredible reef life in this vibrant corner of the western Pacific.

These are expensive destinations, but if you're planning to visit or wish to rekindle old memories, I strongly recommend these DVDs.
