A highly acclaimed jazz musician has died in a diving accident in Stockholm, Sweden. Esbjorn Svensson, 44, a Swedish jazz pianist and composer, was reported to have been diving near a jetty when the accident happened.
It is yet unclear what happened, however, according to website www.allaboutjazz.com, the musician was found 'severely injured' on the sea bed. Attempts to resuscitate him on land were unsuccessful.
Stockholm police have launched an investigation.
Svensson was well known on the Jazz scene for his blend of contemporary jazz crossed with pop, rock and electronica. He won many awards for his music and he produced more than ten successful albums.
Svensson is survived by his wife and two children.
