BSAC club take part in shark research

Street Sub-Aqua Club has taken part in a shark research project while on a recent trip to the Red Sea. The group of BSAC divers from Somerset took photos and video of sharks for the Longimanus Project, which is run by researcher and dive guide Dr Elke Bojanowski.
Dr Bojanowski has been documenting oceanic white tip sharks in the Red Sea for the last seven years. She is identifying individual sharks from their photographs and markings and building a database to catalogue where and when each shark is seen.
The divers from Street Sub Aqua Club took part in the research on the liveaboard Blue Horizon. They worked with Dr Bojanowski to identify the sharks they saw and had lectures on the project and on red sea sharks.
‘We had been talking for a while about doing something different on a dive trip,’ said Alan Popham of Street Divers. ‘We wanted to learn a little bit more about sharks and 
came across the trip run by blue o two.’
