Wholesale store Makro has agreed to stop selling blue shark steaks after pressure from divers and shark charity Bite-Back.

Biteback_Makro The store is thought to be the last multiple retailer selling shark in the country. Makro has also said it will stop selling marlin on its fish counters.

‘This isn’t just a victory for Bite-Back and the marine environment; it is a victory for everyone who took part in the online campaign,’ said Bite-Back’s campaign director Graham Buckingham. ‘It’s this group of committed divers who own this remarkable success.’
