Product:Ri2/100
Price:760
Manufacturer / Distributer:O'Three

Includes: hood, suit bag, zip wax, zip lube French chalk

It was refreshing to see a touch of colour in this offering from O’Three, even though only at the top quarter of the suit. While the Ri2/100 is the most expensive suit here, it gets top marks for style. It is made from 2.1mm resin-impregnated compressed neoprene, with Xstend stretch wrist and neck seal. These give 200-per-cent more stretch than conventional neoprene seals and enhance the ease of donning and removing. All seams are blind-stitched with heavy-duty thread, and are neoprene taped on the inside. Similar to the Northern Diver Divemaster, O’Three also uses the BDM heavy-duty, riveted zip which we like.

There is a huge Velcro pocket on the right leg although when we filled it full it did tend to clang around a bit. The boots were the most comfortable of the bunch and have a contoured foot. They have a strengthened sole and are further reinforced at the heels which have built-in fin strap retainers. The knees and shoulders are fitted with extra super-grip rubber pads, while the arms are also coated with rubber circles to prevent wear. The Ri2/100 uses the popular Apeks valves.

Value verdict: 5 out of 10
Performance verdict: 9 out of 10
Excellent performer but a bit pricey

I recently became the proud owner of an O’Three Ri 2-100 off-the-peg, made-to-fit drysuit. My previous suit had a long hard life and eventually I spent more time repairing it than diving it, thus it was time for a replacement.
O’Three have gained a reputation for quality products and excellent customer service. Having previously owned a 2nd hand O’Three I was aware of their build quality & a dive buddy had praised their customer services so I was confident that their reputation was well deserved.
I had a few questions about the different suits O’Three produce, the MSF & RI along with some of their options. I emailed O’Three and a day later received a phone call from one of their staff and had a very pleasant 40 minute chat discussing the suits, various options, and the kind of diving I do. They were very knowledgeable and helpful.
After some further thought & another wet dive I filled in the online measurement form with some help from my fiancée, being based in Edinburgh meant travelling down to Portsmouth for a fitting wasn’t really an option. The next day I received a phone call from another of O’Three’s staff wanting to check one or two measurements and confirm my options an extra hip pocket, O’Three include one anyway & O’Three's Advanced Pee Valve. The suit only required a few adjustments and would be on its way within two weeks. O’Three even stated that if it didn’t quite fit I could send it back and it would be adjusted at no extra charge.
As my suit is off the peg made to fit it is just the basic black suit with grey pads, but if you go for the full made to measure you can have a selection of coloured panels, of course this costs a bit more.
I was surprised at how small the box was when it arrived and how light it all seemed. The suit it supplied in an extremely sturdy holdall and is complete with a separate padded changing mat, zip wax, zip lube and O’Three’s jollop (basically like KY jelly and essential for fitting the wrist seals)
The suit is a great fit with no excess material bunching up in places and plenty of room for twinset shutdowns. The pockets are in just the right place and the pee valve is surprising low profile and unobtrusive. The neoprene seals are warm and comfortable if a little tight, but I expect them to stretch slightly in time. The wrist seals are extremely difficult to put on without O’Three’s Jollop (or other lubricant) due to having a slightly ribbed profile where they meet you skin, however they are not so tight as to be uncomfortable and can be worn all day, plus they keep your arms nice and dry.
The knee pads do not seem as thick or as durable as on my old suit so time will tell if I need to invest in knee protectors.

Overall I am extremely pleased with this O’Three suit. Yes it is expensive but I certainly feel it is well worth it.
