Otter Britannic Telescopic
Type: Cordura velvet skin
Includes: hood, duffle bag
Valves: Apeks swivelling inflator and automatic dump
Seals: Latex
. Seams are hand-glued, double-sewn and finally double-taped; both neck and wrist seals are made from heavy-duty latex; the kneepads are double thickness; and heavy-duty lined neoprene has been used to manufacture the boots.
Another model featuring a diagonal cross-torso zip, the Britannic also has an outer zip to protect the dry one underneath. Similar to the DUI Explorer, the torso is telescopic, with internal braces to hold it all in place. Each thigh has an inner pocket suitable for a slate, and a zipped outer pocket for general backup and safety equipment. These outer pockets face forwards rather than sideways, making them easier to see, open and close – a neat idea. Two reflective patches are glued onto each arm.
The Brittanic’s small neck opening makes it difficult to put on and take off. However, once you get the suit on, it is flexible, which I credit to the telescopic torso. With the diagonal zip across the front, it also affords plenty of movement around the shoulders.
Verdict: one of the best trilaminates on the market – flexible and hard-wearing
