Type: nylon/butyl rubber/nylon trilaminate
Includes: rock boots
Valves: Apeks fixed inflator and automatic dump
Seals: latex
This is helped by the telescoping torso, which lengthens the suit so that you can get it over your shoulders. To prevent the excess material ending up around your knees, the braces, internal waist adjustment cord and crotch strap neatly hold everything in place.
Other notable features include a warm neck collar, a secondary outer zip that guards against damage to the main dry zip, and a double layer of material over the knees. For storage, both thighs have Velcro pockets with stainless-steel D-rings fitted inside.
The Explorer is definitely the most flexible suit of the bunch as well as being easy to put on and take off. The soft latex seals are excellent and are less prone to causing skin irritation than standard latex, but they’re not as long-lived as some of the other manufacturers’ seals.
In the water, the Explorer didn’t disappoint, giving a huge freedom of movement. The twin thigh pockets are generous in size and are easy to open and close with gloved hands.
Verdict: the easiest to put on and take off – but at a price.
